4 August 2015 - Steel import statistics released for June 2015
According to data released by the South African Revenue Service, imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products (excluding semis, stainless steel and drawn wire) amount to 111 150 tonnes during June 2015, an increase of 2,7% compared with 108 188 tonnes imported during May 2015 and an increase of 9,6% compared with 101 422 tonnes imported during June 2014.
Imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products (excluding semis, stainless steel and drawn wire) during the first six months of 2015 amount to 777 467 tonnes, an increase of 57,1% compared with 494 829 tonnes of primary carbon and alloy steel products imported during the corresponding period of 2014.
Imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products (excluding semis, stainless steel and drawn wire) during the twelve months July 2014 to June 2015 amount to 1 319 053 tonnes, an increase of 20% compared with 1 099 239 tonnes of primary carbon and alloy steel products imported during the corresponding twelve month period.
