According to data released by the members of SAISI, crude steel production amounts to 866 097 tons during January 2006 compared with 751 521 tons during December 2005 and 795 081 tons during January 2005.
Of the 866 097 tons crude steel produced during January 2006, 386 868 tons were produced via the electric furnace route and 479 229 tons were produced via the oxygen furnace route.
