According to data released by the South African Revenue Service, imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products (excluding stainless steel and drawn wire) into South Africa amount to 16 505 tons during December 2005 compared with 43 079 tons during November 2005 and 13 960 tons during December 2004.
Imports of primary carbon and alloy steel products for the twelve months of 2005 amount to 335 789 tons, an increase of 8,9% compared with the 308 322 tons of primary carbon and alloy steel products imported during the twelve months of 2004.
