According to data released by the members of SAISI, crude steel production amounts to 801 541 tonnes during August 2006 compared with 821 442 tonnes during July 2006 and 761 584 tonnes during August 2005.
Of the 801 541 tonnes crude steel produced during August 2006, 343 332 tonnes were produced via the electric furnace route and 458 209 tonnes were produced via the oxygen furnace route.
