According to data released by the members of SAISI, crude steel production amounts to 818 016 tonnes during May 2006 compared with 802 258 tonnes during April 2006 and 835 739 tonnes during May 2005.
Of the 818 016 tonnes crude steel produced during May 2006, 364 438 tonnes were produced via the electric furnace route and 453 578 tonnes were produced via the oxygen furnace route.
