According to data released by the members of SAISI, crude steel production amounts to 802 258 tonnes during April 2006 compared with 691 002 tonnes during March 2006 and 818 676 tonnes during April 2005.
Of the 802 258 tonnes crude steel produced during April 2006, 385 171 tonnes were produced via the electric furnace route and 417 087 tonnes were produced via the oxygen furnace route.
