According to data released by the members of SAISI, crude steel production amounts to 695 765 tonnes during March 2006 compared with 712 584 tonnes during February 2006 and 831 804 tonnes during March 2005.
Of the 695 765 tonnes crude steel produced during March 2006, 325 094 tonnes were produced via the electric furnace route and 370 671 tonnes were produced via the oxygen furnace route.
